The WaterFire Duck

A Great Gift for Children of All Ages!

Bring the magic of WaterFire home with you in this beautifully crafted, hardcover children’s book for the whole family to enjoy!  The book has been created by local Rhode Island author, Kiki Latimer, and illustrator, Bunny Griffeth; who were inspired by the magic of WaterFire.

Since WaterFire was first set alight in 1994, over 10 million visitors and thousands of ducks have come to see the artwork.   Many of them have been inspired by what they have found.  Among those moved to share their passion about WaterFire are Kiki Latimer and Bunny Griffeth, who have come together to write and illustrate The WaterFire Duck.

Kiki found the inspiration for her story at the last WaterFire lighting of the 2008 season.  "As I sat on the stone wall at the edge of the river watching the bonfires, a little brown duck came right over to me and greeted me by patting her feet with a happy rat-a-tat-tat!  I realized right then that the little duck was telling me her story.  But it was not just her story.  It was mine as well, and everyone’s story.  It is a story of hope, of seeking the good in the world, of losing hope and then finding your way, of facing discouragement and the power of friends who encourage us on our personal journey towards peace."

Bunny was inspired in her paintings by the scenic beauty of Rhode Island’s famed Narragansett Bay and the glory of WaterFire.  She hopes to capture this joy through the magic of watercolors.

The WaterFire Duck tells the story of finding WaterFire within your own heart — finding that place in our soul where fire, water and music merge to fill us with an echo of something far greater than ourselves.

This is a children’s book that will reach the child in everyone who loves WaterFire.
